Its Your Move

All around the country, things are getting real. OK, what’s next? Do you know what you‘re going to do about the Trump administration? Shouting ”Resist!” on BlueSky is only venting emotional energy. Thats understandable, but not moving us forward. Signing petitions doesn't usually work when the politcian you address isnt dependant on right-wing Sugar Daddies. You do have agency. It’s time to use it. So how does each of us, as well as all of us, eat an elephant? One bite at a time, oh course. Start with the idea that the electorate that voted for Trumpf isn’t of one mind. There were votes for greed, votes of despair, votes for hate, votes based on propaganda, votes based on low knowlege, votes that were just going along with the crowd, and votes based on the entertainment spectacle that was the Trumpf campaign. From an election perspective, we dont need to peel off many of the Trumpf voters to acheive victory. Doing so, though, is an information battle. Part of this battle is...

Billionaire Tax Dodgers

In the last election cycle alone, billionaire families spent a record $2 billion to install candidates who will slash taxes for the wealthy and gut public programs millions rely on.[1] Elon Musk alone spent $265 million to elect Donald Trump, and Musk now co-chairs the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which seeks to cut critical services for working families in order to pay for a renewal of the Trump-GOP tax scam, which is estimated to cost at least $5.5 trillion.

Forests and Trees

Between the catastrophic fires in SoCal, his Dumpiness looking to annex any countries not already spoken for by Pooty Putin, or Xi JinPing-a-Ling, and the incoming administration preventing the Senate from vetting Hegseth ahead of the vote, it easy to lose track of the big picture. But this is not a time to lose track of the big picture, if we want to return to a reasonable and responsible government. Unfortunately, the big picture is rather muddled right now. There are lots of theories being loudly advocated for, but overall these is no one clear and compelling explanation regarding how we lost the presidency. With so many busy fighting Dumpy’s fires, it feels like little work is progressing on the big picture. And this matters.  The big picture, or strategy, should provide the organizing principals around which key planks of the party are defined, and by which they are communicated to the public. Without strategy, we are always fighting brushfires lit by ...

Utopian Ideals

A Utopian Ideal While I don’t believe in utopia, utopian goals serve an important role in motivating society and its members towards their mutual benefits. With this in mind, let me share some of my thoughts: An immense task lies before us. It includes: - Limiting the damage created by the Trump administration and other crony/politicians in alignment with Oligarchs.  - Restoring open, accurate, approachable news outlets for everyone. - Establishing a culture and polity oriented to a common good. Without these changes, we are unlikely to achieve our policy goals, including: -  Protection of our planet and its livability - Fair treatment for all  - Minimum standards for healthcare, income, and opportunity for all. These policy goals represent, I think, what our founders sought, but based on the world that exists now rather than the world of then. At that time, these goals only applied to a subset of citizens by virtue of the power and money they controlled. However...
